HOME – a place where one lives, to feel safe & secure, comfortable & relaxing, a place of refuge
SAVVY – intelligence, know how, skill, well informed, common sense & understanding
The word “savvy” is not just a word that describes the latest trends or a personality trait, such as, a savvy shopper, savvy investor or street savvy. ‘Savvy’ reminds me of my childhood as the word was constantly used in general conversations. I grew up in Papa New Guinea where I felt safe and secure, it was my home and because of my many happy memories there I wanted to incorporate this, and the commonly used word ‘savvy’ into the business I was aspiring to create. So, began the story of HOME SAVVY.
What simply began as, helping family and friends living overseas by inspecting and short listing investment properties or by organising & meeting trade’s people for those who had work commitments, my clientele very quickly started to grow and soon progressed into a hobby, then shortly after, a home business.
HOME SAVVYwas registered in October 2001 and the home parties began. Due to the popular gift and home ware lines we carried and on going requests we received for more variety we felt we needed to open a retail shop. This decision has proved to be very successful with our clientele and boutique continuing to evolve.
Since its humble beginnings, HOME SAVVY has been recognized by our clients and the community for the fantastic range of products, exceptional customer service, and ongoing support of local schools, charities and non-profit organisations. We are thrilled to have been nominated in the local Quest Newspaper Business Achiever Awards and the Queensland Government Business Awards on multiple occasions.
